For dei gav oss ein arv å gøyma.

Runes and Patterns.jpg
English version avaliable!
A rooted and honest presentation of our deep traditions, symbolism and culture. A chronological journey through the traditions we today take for granted, without most of us knowing the original roots and content of them. A journey that takes the reader on a Norse renaissance. At least in consciousness, in knowledge and in the great, rich and life-celebrating world view we have inherited from our ancestors.
The Norwegian Fairy Tales Series

Norwegian Fairy Tales 1. This series of small books are English translations of our beloved Norwegian fairy tales, as they appear in the format of Asbjørnsen & Moe. The author elaborates on the rich symbolism, codes and patterns in the tales, and sets them in context with the Norse myths and world view.

Norwegian Fairy Tales 2. In this second booklet of the series we will tell and analyze three famous fairy tales written down by Asbjørnsen & Moe, namely The boy that travelled to the northern wind, The three Billy Goats Bruse and White-Bear-King Valemon. These are well known and more or less “mainstream” tales for Norwegians. In addition to the more famous tales, we will focus on a ballad, which is also a fairy tale in its form, namely Heming and Gyvri. We will tell and analyze two other tales, very local ones, from Valdres in Norway, namely The King´s burial mound under Tøftstolhøvdae and a little story of a local famous soul named Tor Hamre. As you will see, the selection is done for the reader to see the absolute clear pattern in all our tales. This pattern exists, even though the format is different, the tales’ compositions are different, if it is a song or a small story or a full-scale Fairy Tale.

Runes & Patterns

Our Norse runes are said to be a mystery. The meaning of the word "rune" is "hidden wisdom". This booklet takes a deeper dive into a few of them, and sets them in context with the other runes, our nature, mythology and Norse heritage.
